PIEH [ the under-stated high-achiever ]

Possesses all the traits of a modern-day leader, low on ego, high on EQ. The PIEH is well-rounded, empathetic, smart and impressive in most situations but can sometimes struggle with change.

Specific Strengths

The PIEH has a balanced, considered view on everything and is calm under pressure.

They are well-organised and like to be prepared for any eventuality.

Their people skills are superb and they create loyal teams and strong cultures.

Communication Style

Very calm, considered and understanding, which reassures and commands trust.

They are constantly trying to develop themselves and their understanding of others, so ask a lot of questions.

Their style isn’t ‘jazz hands’ but it’s highly credible and convincing.

Management Style

They take their responsibilities seriously but appreciate the need to relinquish some control to their team.

But they are highly supportive, which creates a strong bond with their reports.

Their introverted nature means they don’t crave the limelight or claim successes as their own.

Watch-outs

You have strong principles and don’t respond well to environments or people that don’t share your values.

Your calm exterior can sometimes be wrongly interpreted as low energy or dynamism.

You can find change unsettling and like to feel in control.

Areas for Development

You have some wonderful leadership attributes, and your calm and understated ways are appreciated by your teams. However, there will be times when more assertive and dynamic behaviours are required. Developing these attributes will bring a more well-rounded style to your leadership, showing others that you can ‘dial up’ the energy when required.

You build strong teams and reward and recognise within your immediate team. However, there are times when your team may need you to shout a little louder about their achievements outside of the team. Although it is not your natural style to boast, putting your team forward for external industry awards, and highlighting their achievements across the business will result in them feeling valued and appreciated.
